IG AirCargo Switzerland addresses important topics within the air cargo industry in Switzerland and, at present, is initiating or leading the following projects. Detailed information about the objectives and scope of these working groups can be found below.

 

 

 

Air Cargo Training

Training concept by the Interest Group Air Cargo Switzerland (IGAirCargo) and SPEDLOGSWISS for employees of our member companies.

Since 2019 we have been offering professional air cargo trainings in cooperation with SPEDLOGSWISS. Participants from the first course provided a very positive feedback about the content and lecturer. These courses are aimed at all interested parties such as shippers, importers and logistics service provides, who daily tasks are related to the air cargo sector. They are conducted at Zurich Airport and in the German language.

Perspective and Strategies 2021-2025

 The executive management board of IG Air Cargo discussed and assessed various options and proposals concerning the future course of action of our interest group. The objective is to further strengthen our position in the market and to offer attractive and useful benefits to our members and supporters. Therefore, new guiding principles and strategic key areas of activity were formulated.

Swiss Air Cargo Study 2020

 In 2010, Prof. Stölzle of UniSG, supported by a group of interested sponsors, conducted a study on "airfreight as a competitive factor for Switzerland as a business location". It was the first study of its kind and generated a lot of goodwill and transparency for this important means of transport, especially for the Swiss export industry. Ten years later IG Air Cargo and the Institute of Supply Chain Management of University St. Gallen have engaged again to produce a new comprehensive study of the airfreight logistics sector in Switzerland. Presented at the National Air Cargo Day on August 26, 2020 at the Verkehrshaus in Lucerne, the new 2020 Swiss Airfreight Logistics Study is ready. Verkehrshaus Logistik 2020-21

Verkehrshaus in Luzern, the Swiss Transportation Museum is preparing a new Exhibition in 2020-21 with the focus on logistics in close cooperation with several industry associations.

eTransformation

eTrans (eTransformation)

eTrans, short for eTransformation is a community driven project to achieve concrete results and benefits from the various digitalization projects involving Air Cargo. Starting from eAWB, eFreight and the related IATA initiatives.

DataChecker

DataChecker Swiss Pilot

 The DataChecker Pilot in Switzerland is a joint initiative of IG Air Cargo and Champ Cargosystems. The idea is to develop and test an IT solution that analyses advanced content of Air Cargo data messages when they are exchanged between Freight Forwarders and Airlines. Existing flows of FWB/FHL messages are fed to an engine to produce statistical data. Freight Forwarders in Switzerland can participate free of charge to the pilot phase till the end of 2019.

ZRH Gate 105 Opening Hours

 Small project to evaluate if longer opening hours of Gate 105 at Zurich Airport would lead to a better utilisation, more capacity, less delays or better quality. Project concluded.
