SOTOMO – Survey on Swiss Aviation

Last autumn, Aviationsuisse ordered a representative survey on Swiss aviation from the renowned research institute SOTOMO and closely monitored the process over the past few months. Thanks to our seat on the Aviationsuisse Board of Directors, we were able to actively participate in this survey and thus ensure that air cargo-related elements were also included in the questionnaire.

The study and the accompanying press release were presented last Monday, May 4, 2026, during a press conference in Bern. The following members of the Aviationsuisse Board appeared in Bern: National Councilor Regine Sauter, President; Fred Herren, AERIA+; Michael Hug, Chamber of Commerce of both Basel cantons; and Martin Naville, Weltoffenes Zürich.

The results are also very encouraging for air cargo. The public supports aviation and recognizes its economic importance. Direct flight connections are considered highly significant, which helps us further underscore the substantial contribution air cargo makes to the profitability of such routes. The study and its findings support our arguments in future campaigns and in our dialogue with politicians, authorities, and airport operators.
