In August 2024, the partial revision of the Swiss Aviation law went out for consultation.
It contains important points relating to the development capability of the Swiss airports, which together ensure connectivity to the world and are of fundamental importance for supply, the economy, science and society. One of the most important concerns is to safeguard (protect) the current operating hours at the airports in order to guarantee operations to the current extent. A reduction in these would have drastic consequences, such as the loss of the hub function, which would ultimately lead to the loss of direct connections and have negative consequences for the economy and society.
Together with our partner associations Aviationsuisse and Aerosuisse, we fully support the points mentioned in the partial revision in order to avert the negative consequences for air freight in terms of supply and economic damage. As IG Air Cargo, we have joined the associations in submitting a statement to the FOCA on the SIL object plan for Zurich Airport (refer to the link below).

Among other things, this involves safeguarding operating hours at Swiss airports, which is the most important concern. Operations and opening hours at the airports must be guaranteed at least to the current extent so that these infrastructures can continue to fulfill their role in the future and the competitiveness of the airlines operating from them can be ensured. It is important for well-functioning and efficient air cargo that Swiss airports are not further restricted in their operations.
